Pre-Assessment Questions

There’s no need to write any answers down prior to your assessment, but spending an evening with a cup of tea to think about the following may help the meeting flow smoothly.

You’ll be sent a Google Meet link shortly before your meeting.

Personal questions

In your assessment we’re going to explore a little about you because when we understand you as a person. The key to effective growth is knowing your strengths and your weaknesses, and owning them! We’ll want to know things like…

  • How did you get into photography?
  • Why have you chosen specific genres such as babies, pets, boudoir etc.
  • What would you say you’re good at when it comes to running a business?
  • What would you say you’re bad (or hate doing) at when it comes to running a business?
  • What motivates you to do what you’re doing?

Business numbers

Not everyone likes numbers, but they are important to know and understand if you want to grow a sustainable business. It isn’t essential that you know all of these just yet but this should give you an idea of what we’d eventually look at.

  • How many bookings do you get per month?
  • How many bookings would you like?
  • What is your average customer spend?
  • What is your marketing budget per month?
  • Are you making a profit?
    • If so, how much?
    • If not, how close are you?

Demographics

It’s vital to know who you want in your studio. What does your ideal customer look like?

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Location
  • Interests
  • Employment
  • Life experiences

Marketing

  • What is your marketing experience?
  • What are you doing to get your leads/bookings?
  • Are you using paid, organic or both forms of marketing?
  • How are you storing and managing leads?
    • Spreadsheets/Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM)
  • What content are you putting out there already? (Images/videos/User-generated content etc)

The Future

Knowing what you want to achieve gives you direction so with that in mind, what would you like to be doing in 3,6 and 12 months?

While tracking is important, don’t get bogged down in the numbers. Focus on the big picture: are your campaigns generating leads and bookings? Are they profitable? If the answer is yes, you’re on the right track.

Wait, don't go anywhere...
